PO FESR Sicilia 2014-2020

Project Description
The project carried out by the company CAPOREM SRL (formerly GIESSE COSTRUZIONI S.R.L.), with the contribution of the EU Community Fund PO FESR Sicily 2014/2020, thanks to funding under Action 3.1.1_02a, enabled the creation of two new hospitality facilities. One is a 3-star hotel and the other is a holiday home and apartment complex, both located in the municipality of Capo d’Orlando (ME). Specifically, the project involved:
A three-star hotel on Lungomare Andrea Doria. This is a three-story building with 12 rooms and 3 suites.
A holiday home located at the corner of Via Palermo and Via Del Commercio, consisting of 4 residential units (apartments).
These facilities are characterized by innovative services, highly competitive in terms of quality and quantity, and based on an inclusive and eco-sustainable business model.
Project Objectives
The project aims to create two connected hospitality facilities capable of promoting awareness of the region’s cultural and natural heritage and strengthening the role of tourism in the local economy through the provision of high-quality accommodation services. The project also focuses on developing an environmentally sustainable and inclusive business, encouraging the use of web-based services for tourism and cultural promotion. It offers innovative services supported by new forms of communication, adapted to market changes, through the use of ICT and their quality—within internal production processes, service access, corporate marketing, etc. It seeks to boost the local economy and related industries by promoting stable employment and encouraging partnerships with connected sectors and/or local operators.
Project Activities Included:
Construction work for the realization of the two facilities;
Purchase of furniture and equipment;
Development of a website and a customized mobile app for the hospitality structures.
Results Achieved
The initiative led to the development of a project based on an innovative model, where the promotion and professional management of tourist rentals provide effective support in offering a complete and personalized service to highly demanding guests. This model represents a real asset for the region, offering an opportunity for broader tourism seasons through the presence of a solid organizational infrastructure for property owners, guests, and tourists. These are innovative, interconnected, ethical, and sustainable hospitality facilities. The achieved results include:
Innovation: Not only in terms of traditional hospitality (i.e., accommodation rental), but in offering comprehensive hospitality supported by emerging and high-quality web technologies. The goal is to educate, raise awareness, and shape the so-called “responsible traveler” while enhancing the area’s historical, cultural, artistic, and natural heritage—respecting its nature, origins, and local way of life.
New organizational solutions: A website with online booking and payments, a smartphone app that informs customers about the local area and suggests alternative routes to explore and experience it more deeply.
External relations: Collaborations with local operators to offer cultural, nature-based, and food-and-wine-themed excursions, as well as visits to local attractions.
Economic, social, and environmental sustainability: Promotion of sustainable development—economic growth compatible with environmental protection. The project considers environmental, social, and economic sustainability (e.g., accessibility and usability of the product/service: a “High Visibility” website for the visually impaired and individuals with perceptual disabilities, and a reduction of environmental impact through water and energy-saving measures).
